Athenians The area of Athens was a strong country with a solid army. Yet however was not known for their military nature put more for their love of culture and the arts as well as poetry and the education of the mind. The Athenians were responsible for great theorists and philosopers, Plato the originator of them all. Athenians although very cultured did require two years worth of military training. This was done to insure males military worth, yet not equivelant to the obsessive spartains, was not to un-educated. |
The Two Major Types Of Ancient Greeks Their were two major types of greeks the Spartains of Sparta, and Athenians of Athens.Their differences allow though few were major and lead to their emminent war with each other. Allow these two societies were just two of several societies in Greek history they left the biggest footprints in history of the rest. |
Spartains The people of Sparta were a proud and very strong people although they gave citizens their fair say in the government , to be a citizen required service. This shines light on the focual point of spartain society, Military. All males were required to serve from 7 to 60 and if the failed to they were not given the same rights as those who did. Along with service men were required to go through school to be a solider with the same men they would live with till retirement, even if they had families of their own. |
