Welcome to 2009’s Preliminary Program, and to what promises to be an exciting and cutting edge experience for all of us!
This year's conference is in "the valley of the sun", Phoenix, Arizona. Here, we set our eyes toward the future of sexology and focus our gaze on the cutting edge of the field. After celebrating our past in 2008, we are spending this year in the zeitgeist of our field.

We slice to the heart of sexual fantasy with Dr. Brett Kahr, researcher and author of the book, Who's Been Sleeping in Your Head? as he presents findings from the largest study of sexual fantasy ever completed.

We skirt the far edges of the field with Dr.s Judy Kuriansky and Elizabeth Schroeder. They will be sharing what they learned about the hottest issues in sex ed from the just published Praeger series Sexuality Education.
We will take a look at male pelvic floor function with Andy Lesher, examining from a Physical Therapy lens the issues related to chronic pain and sexual dysfunction in the Whipple Family Plenary.

And, we will look at brand new research from Alyssa Wulf and Real Reason, which has been working on language labs across the nation examining the ways in which people use language to frame sexuality. From “Goo” to “Personality”, the way we talk about sex has far reaching implications. What might a new paradigm look like?

All of this, and a one man show called “The Tricky Part”, written and performed by Martin Moran. Of the show, the New York Times wrote, “The show’s title refers to accepting divine grace in unlikely, often ugly forms. It could just as easily have to do with the difficulty in finding patterns in moral and emotional conflict without oversimplifying.”

Add a special screening of “Boyhood Shadows”, sponsored by The Boyhood Shadows Foundation; a celebration of the era of Harvey Milk with a 70’s disco, and an amazing array of workshops and speakers featuring some of our field’s best and brightest theorists and practitioners.

Phoenix will be hot, all right. Just the way some of us like it!

Can’t wait to see you there,

Brent Satterly and Don Dyson, Your Conference Co-Chairs
