PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY

Technology, telecommunications, and the internet have transformed classrooms, industry, government, and even society itself. Given that we live in this new digital age, it is most critical that teachers and students at all levels be prepared to teach and make the best use of technology. Therefore, the instructional technology program at Widener University focuses on teaching educators how to infuse technology to improve their own methods and how to teach others to design, develop, integrate, manage, and evaluate the learning process through the use of all forms of technology.

Widener offers the Instructional Technology Specialist Certification, endorsed by ISTE, and an M.Ed. in Instructional Technology, as well as the Ed.D. in School Administration with an Instructional Technology track. The Center for Education's instructional technology courses are aligned with the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) for administrators, teachers, and students, developed by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and its educational partners.

All instructional technology classes are held in a new state-of-the-art computer lab that includes the following resources:
